Trauma Informed Care, Oct.23, 10:00 - 11:30am (CST)

Presenter: Nadia Larosa, Klinic

Psychological trauma is a major public health issue affecting the health of people, families and communities across Canada. Given the enormous influence that trauma has on health outcomes, it is important that every health care provider has a basic understanding of trauma, can recognize the symptoms of trauma, and appreciates  the role they play in supporting recovery.

Service providers do not need to be specialists in the treatment of trauma to work in a Trauma Informed way. However, they do need to know enough to be able to recognize possible trauma responses and to adapt their practices accordingly. This interactive webinar will lead participants in a conversation about the principles of being trauma-informed and how to integrate this perspective into our everyday interactions

The Interdisciplinary Healthcare Team in Canada, Nov.6, 10:00 - 11:30 am (CST)

Presenters: Dan Buenaventura, RN

The ability to effectively work on an interdisciplinary team is a major focus today in the education of future healthcare professions in all disciplines. Understanding the roles on the team and how decisions are made can be a challenge for Internationally Educated Nurses as it often differs to the composition of the healthcare team in their countries of origins.  Understanding the Nursing role within the Canadian Healthcare team will be the focus of the webinar.

Taking a Patient History, Nov.20, 8:00 - 9:30pm (CST)

Taking a history from a patient is a fundamental skill for health care providers.  It requires both your communication skills as well as your clinical knowledge about what questions to ask. In this webinar you will have the opportunity to discuss the role of the nurse in taking a patient history and to practice asking questions to explore an entrance complaint. Great practice for CELBAN, OSCE and most of all Nursing!
